The Old
Moron County

About THE NEW Moron County:

THE NEW Moron County is a serialized online graphic novel (or web comic, if you prefer,) that updates on a two-to-three update per week schedule, depending on the author’s capability to make new episodes.

What’s it about?

THE NEW Moron County tells the story of Biff Alperson and Nina Fristrom, two recent college graduates that are trying to sort out what to do with their lives.  Both come to Biff’s home town of Moron County for different reasons: Nina, an avid toy collector, is searching for “the Obsidian Moogle,” a rare toy made to promote the Final Fantasy game series, while Biff is merely trying to figure out what to do with his life.  Lacking anything better to do with his time, Biff serves as Nina’s guide through the bizarre world of Moron County and its many intricacies, not the least of which are Biff’s family, particularly his cynical and cunning brother, Clyde.  And no, Biff and Nina are not dating.

Why is it “THE NEW” Moron County?

THE NEW Moron County is actually the author’s second attempt at a web comic.  The first, called simply “Moron County,” ran for three years off and on during the author’s college tenure.  In this iteration, Biff and Nina were still college students, and participated to varying degrees in traditional college hijinks.  Biff’s brother Clyde, meanwhile, was an average kid in Moron County that routinely dealt with robots, aliens, and talking rabbits.  While the original Moron County certainly had its fans and a few redeeming moments, the author thought it best to retool the comic in hopes of making it more entertaining for both his readers and himself.  Also, the constant switching between different characters with completely different situations was tedious for both reader and author alike, and the author had been looking for an excuse to do this for a while.

Who is the author?

THE NEW Moron County’s author is Grady Phillips, a recent Trinity University graduate who started his first web comic out of boredom, and his second web comic as his senior project.  He has been drawing cartoons since he was five, and has actually been drawing them well since he was eleven.  He considers his strengths as a writer to lie in character-based storytelling and humor derived from putting realistic and generally likeable characters in bizarre situations.  He also has strong ties to videogames and geek culture, and references both quite heavily in his works, when applicable.  Lastly, he has an obnoxiously obese and obtuse vocabulary, which leads an unsavorily large number of people to critique his… um… talking.

How can we contact this Grady person?

THE NEW Moron County’s author can be reached at the following address, which has been heavily paraphrased to avoid spam.

Clydoken(at)gmail(dot)com

Also, THE NEW Moron County has a comment page and (hopefully coming soon) a forum.  He strongly encourages you to try this venue first, but will gladly entertain an e-mail if you wish to speak to him privately.  If both are a problem, he will, if necessary, provide his screen name for MSN or AIM, depending on your needs.  He will not post those on a public page, however, for obvious reasons.
