Moron County is an ongoing comedy/sci-fi webcomic updated every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Its humor comes from outlandish stories and three-dimensional, developed, and likable characters.
The story, for the most part, revolves around twenty three-year-old slacker Biff Alperson and his adventures in the small, crazy town of Moron County. Other notable characters include Biff’s fake fiancé (long story) and toy collector Nina, Nina's friend and former rock star Vyona, Biff’s sarcastic little brother Clyde, and a talking blue rabbit named Bobbes that lives in Biff’s attic.
Although Moron County follows an ongoing story, it is divided into individual chapters that stand alone pretty well. If you’re just starting out, here are some particularly good stories (favorites of both the author and fans) to get you started. Alternatively, you can always just read from the beginning.
Chapter Three: SCIENCE!
This chapter introduces Biff’s job as an assistant at K-Labs, a secret laboratory run by child genius Alloysius Karter. It also introduces fan favorites Bobbes the rabbit, as well as Fred and Francis of the K-Labs crew.
Chapter Six: Full Contact Golf
Nina gets more than she bargained for when she has to chaperone Clyde and the K-Labs crew to a night of miniature golf. A showcase of Moron County’s best characters at their finest. Also, there’s a hobo that screams Zelda quotes.
Chapter Eight: Citizen Haynes
A flashback story of Biff’s college days. Along with seeing what Biff, Carl and Nina were like in college (they’re not much different, really…) we also see Chris, Steve, and Vyona, who play big roles in the comic later on.
Chapter Ten: I Remember Larry
Trouble is abound when Biff and Clyde’s horrible cousin Larry comes to visit from boarding school. Although this chapter kicks off one of the largest story arcs in the comic thus far, it’s still a decent jumping on point for new readers, as there’s not a whole lot of reference to past strips that isn’t explained.
Chapter Fourteen: The Exorcism of Nina Fristrom
When Karter shows the Exorcist for K-Labs’ weekly Movie Night, Bobbes becomes terrified of demonic possession. Then the next day, when Nina is sick and throwing up green bile… well, you can see where this is going. The latest chapter on this list by far, but fear not! It comes with a convenient prologue for new readers explaining some of Moron County’s… stranger elements…
Chapter Fifteen: The Princess and the Blob
Biff, Nina, Vyona, and Clyde play a game of Dungeons and Dragons. There are some callbacks to earlier storylines, but nothing that will impede your enjoyment.
